Our Story
We didn’t start Backroads Certified Farmers Market because we wanted another project.
We started it because we were vendors too—and we were tired.
Tired of working ourselves to the bone.
Tired of setting up before sunrise and tearing down after dark.
Tired of giving everything to our businesses only to face poor management, unfair treatment, and high fees from markets that didn’t support us.
After too many “that’s just how it is” conversations, we finally said:
“No. It can be better. It should be better.”
With the help of a friend who believed in us, we built the kind of market we wished existed—a market created by vendors, for vendors.
A place where:

Backroads was born from frustration…but it grew from hope, passion, and a belief that farmers markets should be joyful, community-centered spaces—not stressful ones.
